# Pair the smartphone

| When you create an event, you need to enter the phone number of the device that will be streaming. That’s how we pair the smartphone with the Live Manager.

| Enter the same phone number on the smartphone to complete the pairing.

|| Here’s the live event. At first, the **Publish** button is inactive and cannot be clicked.

| From the Live manager, click "Start test" to enable the stream and connect the smartphone.

|| The PUBLISH button is now active - click on it to start streaming.

| You will now see the stream active in the Live Manager — you’re ready to go live.
